Artist's Comments

I have been developing this new technique... I am not sure what direction it is going in yet, however I think that I have at least some idea. I liked the look of this piece for some reason. Like the title suggests, this piece is far from finished. In fact, there is alot more work on the photoshop end of the technique to put into this yet. I think that I got the idea from a friend of mine, Victor. I can't speel his last name so I am not even going to try. At any rate, he amazed me with his artwork when I went back home to Houston recently. He did stuff similar to this, though his style is more Macross (actually, he is fascinated and obsessed with Macross.) Personally, I have never been so impressed with comic art. While it may require talent, it has never been my style. As my journal entry suggests, I think that I am on the road to developing my personal style, and this is merely a stepping stone.

****EDIT**** 2004 04 16
I would like to clarify that this was not done in photoshop. This was in fact done in Freehand MX... with a mouse... :D The latter stages of the technique will likely be developed in photoshop cs. ;)
The photo I jsued for stock on this piece was a photo I took of a guy at a costume party a couple of years ago. I don't expect that anyone would get it right away based on this depiction, however, this is the guy from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Excellent movie if you haven't seen it. (Strange, I just noticed that I have 2 pieces now that are motivated by hollywood! wierd.)

So far, what do you think?

****EDIT**** 2006 03 01
I have decided that this piece is strong enough on it's own as a line drawing to merit being it's own deviation in my gallery. I feel it's complete and no longer expect to do anything to this particular piece of work. Things change however, so if you've got some cool idea, let me know.

this is amazing. My brother and i were talking about it the other day, and hunter shouldnt be alive. He just shouldnt, that guy is a god, and idol to the drug culture.

Anywho, i love this so much i think i'll favorite it. :]

:D right on! Funny thing is, a journalist friend of mine (and devout follower of Hunter S. Thompson - of course!) walked up to this guy later on that night and starts trying to talk to him about Gonzo Journalism. (Strangely my friend was wearing a "Gonzo Journalism" t-shirt at the time.) This guy had no idea what Gonzo Journalism was. 'Twas a pity really. hehehe.

Thanks much for the +fav! I'll be adding color and such later, so check back. :D
